Tom and Natalie Baker hired Evergreen to build their cottage despite the fact that their next lowest bid was $40,000 less. They sensed they could trust us - our abilities, commitment to communication and firm timelines, starting with our promise to have their cottage completed by Christmas after a spring start.
Tom explains their decision. “Evergreen had the right combination of experience, price, quality and good references.”
As a working professional with very high standards, Tom needed an expert contractor to take care of everything for him. He certainly found his ideal working companion in our lead carpenter, Brian (last name) whose skill and judgment he came to trust completely.
Despite unexpected road issues preventing an early spring start, Evergreen made adjustments by putting extra men on the job to keep our promise and stay on schedule. “Evergreen actually physically lived here five days a week and got the job done,” notes an impressed Tom.
Natalie was clearly pleased as well, “No stress for us, everything was taken care of. And I was excited to be in before Christmas!”
It was the first time Don and Alba had hired a builder. They started looking at packages and heard about Evergreen through that process. As they’d heard good things about us, they did their homework and liked what they saw. They then talked to other clients of Evergreen and heard promising reports.
Their decision was confirmed when we looked at their beautiful - but challenging - Muskoka lot, high above the water. Some of their friends and family members wondered about the feasibility of building on the elevated, rocky site. But when Evergreen surveyed the lot, we were happy to reassure Don and Alba that the cottage could be built and would be stunning!
“It made me feel good,” says Don, “to have professional builders say to you, ‘this is doable’, it gives you some peace of mind.”
Their dream was to have their cottage for the following summer but at the point it was already late fall. While some builders would have waited until the following spring to build, we got started as the snow began to fall and worked throughout the winter so Don and Alba could enjoy their cottage the following summer - as promised.
